History of Cedar Creek Township
Cedar Creek Township, located in Wexford County, Michigan, is closely linked to the history of Manton. Originally a lumber settlement, it was established along the Grand Rapids and Indiana Railroad, with the townsite purchased and cleared in 1872. The town was initially named Cedar Creek, but the railroad company named the station "Manton" after its first postmaster, George Manton. The city of Manton, incorporated in 1923, is now surrounded by, but administered separately from, Cedar Creek Township, according to Wikipedia and Manton Michigan.
